Obituary for Bobbie Jean Holbrook (Joplin)

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Joplin Holbrook, 70, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Victory Temple in Concord. Mrs. Holbrook will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Rev. Gary Posey will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Holbrook was born December 16, 1941 in Chesterfield County, SC. She was a daughter of the late James Edward Joplin and Nettie Sue Jordan Joplin. She retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills where she worked as an inspector. After retirement, she worked at What-A-Burger #2 in Concord. Bobbie was a member of Victory Temple and enjoyed listening to gospel music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Holbrook is survived by her husband, Edward Arlie Holbrook; daughters, Tammy Self and husband Ray of Rockwell and Gina Griffin of Salisbury; sons Michael Ray Oliver and wife Cathy of Salisbury and Jeffrey Scott Oliver of Rockwell; step-daughter, Debra Hatfield of Taylorsville; step-sons, David Holbrook of MN and Bobby Holbrook of PA; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
